(4) MCKINNA G

LES ONAKA’S EARLY PICK 4

1st race   (1,4,8)                2nd race   (2,4)                   3rd race   (5)                  4th race   (5,6,7)                TOTAL  $18.00

The sharp KERRYMAN  crushed a pace less field in powerful fashion (6.77 final 1/16) and can make it 2 in a row with another strong beginning.  He is capable of 21.0 opening quarter splits and will relish the ‘wet-fast’ racing surface (as rain is predicted to fall tonight). KERRYMAN  figures to shake loose from his field turning for home.  RANCH HAND  dueled outside one rival near the far turn (21.48 opening quarter), shook loose (+1 length) mid-final turn, held strong (thru the rapid 6.47 final 1/160. Prior effort he broke well, chased the lone speed runner mid-backside (-3 lengths), raced -3 lengths near the far turn (21.42 opening quarter), was carried out 4-wide turning for home, 5-wide entering the stretch, kept to his task to the end (should have been closer), BTL performance. He captured 5-races last year and carries options from his favorable inside post.   MCKINNA G   arrives from Arizona and brings with him a solid win record (16-lifetime wins) and is capable of firing a good one from slightly off the pace. The blinkers will be worn for the 1st time and barn has been firing with his limited thoroughbreds this early season.  GAMBLING RENT    broke well, shook loose (+2 lengths) mid-backside, controlled the 21.67 opening quarter, lost his advantage at midstretch, battled back gamely and just missed (finishing out clearly 2nd best). Prior effort he broke well, dueled outside one rival near the far turn (21.29 opening quarter), gained the narrow advantage at the top of the lane, lost his lead at midstretch, finished out clearly 2nd best. Speedy performer is racing in peak form, but must deal with the speed of KERRYMAN.   BALIUS   dueled inside 3-rivals mid-backside, shook loose (+1 length) near the far turn (21.35 opening quarter), battled the length of the stretch, lacked the needed response in deep stretch (good try) vs. tougher rivals. Prior effort he broke well, dueled outside one rival mid-backside, dropped back –1 length as the pace quickened near the far turn (21.65 opening quarter), drifted out 4-wide entering the stretch, lacked the needed response down the lane. Claimed from L Barana 2-back. He will be facing a field loaded with other speed rivals.

ROLLING PICK 3

2nd race    (2,4)                         3rd race   (5)                        4th race    (5,6,7)                     TOTAL  $06.00

SKIMMING BYE appears the strong play based on his speed. He was very competitive when facing maiden $12,500-claimers (close up thru the solid 21.4 opening ¼ and 44.3 opening half). He flashed terrific speed (over a sloppy racing surface) at Fairplex when competing against maiden $25,000-claiming rivals. Hails from under-rated conditioner (D Collins) and returns with a series of good works from Fairplex. The aggressive C De Alba will have this one winging from the start!     TAYLOR COUNTY   broke well, chased the dueling pair mid-backside (-2 lengths), raced -3 lengths near the far turn (21.78 opening quarter), angled out 4-wide to clear entering the stretch, rallied fast too late (improving his position late) vs. productive field (CHONS DREAM came back and captured a maiden$2,500-claiming event in 52.14). Prior effort he broke well, dueled 3-wide (part of a 4-horse speed duel) mid-backside, dropped back -2 lengths as the pace quickened near the far turn (21.98 opening quarter), lugged out mid-final turn, 5-wide entering the stretch, never quit trying thru the sizzling 6.22 final 1/16. Hails from sizzling connections!    DOUBLE POP   failed to threaten in a disappointing performance when competing against TAYLOR COUNTY. Prior effort he broke -1 length slow, chased the lone speed winner mid-backside (-6 lengths), raced -5 lengths near the far turn (22.14 opening quarter), raced in traffic mid-final turn, cleared inside at the top of the lane, finished out very well (thru the 23.57 final ¼) at 870 yards. He is capable of much better.  SKIMMING BYE and TAYLOR COUNTY  are the one to watch in the 2nd leg of the early pick 4.

(((((((((((((((((((((((((((((((((((((((((((((((((((((((((((((((((((((((((()))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))

OTHERS:

GO STRAIGHT (19.87)  fractious in gate, broke in, bumped (hard) shortly after the start, losing -1 length, raced -2 lengths past the gap, kept to his task to the end in the Golden State Million Futurity trials. He is much better than his last pair shows!

LDS WON FOR GEORGE (15.54)  fractious in gate, broke well, quick in stride (lead), flashed good speed, crushed maiden $12,500-claimers when favorably drawn (9.79 final 1/8) vs. productive field (IWILLPICKUPTHECHECK came back and captured a maiden $12,500-claiming event in 15.81). A LOT LIKE LOVE broke well, caught in tight quarters (squeezed back) at the gap, raced -2 lengths midway, leveled too late (never had a chance) vs. tougher rivals. Prior effort (17.65) he faced Golden State Million Futurity runner-up FIGHTER ON FIRE. 3-back (17.53) he swerved out (3-lanes) shortly after the start, losing -1 length, drifted out midway, kept to his task to the end.

SNOW PATROL was leaning on the gate as it opened (losing all chance). Prior effort (17.73) he broke off balance, drifted in, bumped shortly after the start, losing -1 length, raced -2 lengths past the gap. 3-back (17.70) he broke -3/4 length slow, accelerated nicely, right there past the gap, gained the advantage past the 1/16 pole, held gamely (9.65 final 1/8).

BONO AGAIN broke off balance, bumped (pushed in) shortly after the start, raced -2 lengths past the gap. Prior effort (15.40) he broke off balance at the start, losing -3/4 length, raced -1 length past the gap, leveled past the 1/16 pole, exploded for the score (9.65 final 1/8) vs. easier. He is bred for an ‘off’ racing surface!

HORSES TO WATCH:

Prior effort he bumped at the start, dueled outside 2-rivals near the far turn (21.35 opening quarter), fanned 5-wide turning for home, battled the length of the stretch, proved narrowly best over the speed dominating event. Hails from the sizzling RD Jackson barn. Carries options!
